Delta Electronics Founder and Chairman Bruce Cheng Endows NCKU with NT$250 Million to Build the NCKU-Delta Building

Tainan, Taiwan, December 12, 2008--- National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) announced today that Founder and Chairman of Delta Electronics, Inc. Mr. Bruce Cheng ( NCKU EE Alumnus ) has endowed his alma mater with $250 million NTD, approximately 7.5 million USD, for the construction of the “NCKU-Delta Building” to be used for the development of advanced research and industry-academia cooperation. The NCKU-Delta Building will be established in the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP). This is Chairman Chen’s third endowment to NCKU after his 2001 donation of one million shares of Delta Electronics stock to establish the K.T. Li Technology Lectureship and in 2007 a donation of 100 million NTD to construct the Y. S. Sun Green Building Research Center... ( full story : NCKU News )
 

Professor Ching-Ting Lee Elected as IEEE Fellow

Tainan, TAIWAN, Dec.3, 2008 --- Professor Ching-Ting Lee (李清庭), Dean of College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Distinguished Professor of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), has been elected as a 2009 Fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), which has been viewed as the world’s leading professional association for the advancement of technology. His notable contribution and scientific achievement is mainly related to gallium nitride (GaN) based optoelectronic and microelectronic devices.

When Professor Ching-Ting Lee was appointed as the first Dean of the NCKU College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 2003, he made great efforts on establishment of administrative system as well as excellent environment for learning, teaching and research for students, faculty and staff in the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science...(full story : NCKU News)

 

Call for NCKU-Milan University Dual Ph.D. Candidates

A Dual Ph.D. program between NCKU and Milan University, Italy has been established. Based on the agreement, the Ph.D. students admitted to the program will be awarded with both Ph.D. Diplomas from NCKU and from Milan University, if he fulfills the Ph.D. graduation requirements.
